    This is excellent guide to fix the error with my printer. Thank you, Norman. I performed the following steps to fix the error:

    1. I wiped the cartridge electrical contacts with soft cotton. Removed the smug that built up.
    2. Also dried the cartridge by blowing warm air directly on the contacts.
    3. Repeated the process for the cartridge case inside the printer. Turns out that the ink residue is a real problem.

    After performing these steps, the printer started working fine. I was able to print a few documents without any errors.

    However, the problem returned after a few days. I was shocked.

    This time, I performed the following steps:

    1. I did the hard reset of my HP Deskjet. This is the key combination that works:

    Dash → Home → Dash → Dash (that is, “- → Home → - → -”)

    1. The above key combination opens up variety of options that are otherwise hidden. I tried Region Reset and Full Reset; but that didn't work either.

    Finally, I took the printer to HP Authorised Service Center and they confirmed that the Cartridge tray was damaged. I don't know the reason why this happens; but replacing it has solved the problem.
